Do You Make the Cookies?
The cookies are made fresh by a professional bakery located in Denver, Colorado. We have worked closely with the bakery to design the actual cookie to our specifications. Our custom cookie design ensures that your photographs and messages look great and that the cookies can be shipped without being damaged. The baker uses only premium ingredients in his cookies to ensure that they present a good visual experience and taste great.
What Is the Quality of the Picture on the Cookie?
The quality of the picture depends on the quality of the photograph submitted. The clearer the photo and the more contrast within the photo, the better it will look on the cookie. Although your photo will never look quite as sharp as it would on good photo paper, quality pictures print out very nicely on our cookies.
Can I Choose the Colors to Go around the Border of the Photograph?
You can let us know what color you would like around the photograph, and we will do our best to match it. Keep in mind that if you request blue, for example, there are 25 different blues in the color palette, and we won't know exactly which one you want. We will do our best to match the border color with the photograph.
Do I Have to Submit a Round Photograph?
No, Candid CookiesTM will enlarge, reduce and/or crop your photograph so that it will best fit on the round cookies. Keep in mind, that in order to get the most of the photograph on the cookie, the cropping may not be perfectly round. You may wish to test your photograph by doing the "circle test."
Circle Test
Take a copy of your photo, and actually draw, or if you don’t want to damage the photo, imagine a circle about 2.5 inches around the subject of the photograph that will be featured on the cookie. This will give you an idea of how the picture will fit on a round cookie. Although any photo shape can go on a cookie, you will find that some photographs are better suited for a cookie than others. Due to the structure of the photo, there may be empty spaces above, below, on top and/or on the bottom of the picture when it ends up on the cookie.
Keep in mind that we can enlarge or shrink the size of the photo and depending on where the circle is placed, some parts of the photo may not be included in the circle. Please note that a rectangular or square photo, where the subject takes up all or most of the total photo area, may end up being very small when reduced and put on the cookie.
Can I Ask for Special Cropping of My Photograph?
Yes, you can ask us to focus in on one part of your photograph. If you have two people together, we can center one person. However, you need to do the "circle test." by drawing a circle around the part of the photo you want included. We cannot delete a portion of the photograph. We can only take the subject you want and center it in the circle. Parts of whatever is next to the subject or surrounding the subject may still be included in the cookie photo.
What type of photos work best on your cookies?
The best photos for use on our cookies are ones that have clear images, good lighting (not too dark), and display the people or subject relatively close up.
Can I Submit Different Pictures and Have Several Pictures on Cookies?
At this time, we are not able to process multiple photographs on the same order. You will have to submit different orders for each photograph.
How Many Words Can I Place on the Cookie for the Personalized Message?
You can have up to 90 characters. Cookies are set up to have a message on the top and the bottom of the cookie, so it's a good idea to have about 45 on the top and 45 characters on the bottom.
Are the Colors True in the Photographs?
We make every effort to make colors correct; however, due to the nature of the product on which the picture is printed, there may be some color variation and may not be exactly as they appear on photographic paper.
Are There Any Types of Pictures that Won't Work on Candid CookiesTM?
Yes, photos that are very blurry, very dark, or very small do not make good candidates for our cookies. Again, complete the “circle test” to determine if you think the picture would work on a round image that is approximately 2.5 inches in diameter.
NOTE: We reserve the right to decline to make Candid CookiesTM with a photograph that is not acceptable either due to its content or due to its formatting. We may send the photo back and ask for a replacement photo.
Does the Photograph I submit Have to Be the Same Size as the Picture on the cookie?
No, we have a specially designed program that will allow us to either shrink or enlarge a photo so that the subject of the picture fits on the cookie. Keep in mind if the subject of the photograph is very small or the quality of the photograph poor, it may not be very clear when enlarged.
Do I Have to Email a Picture, or Can I send One in the Mail?
You may send a hard copy of a picture in the mail, but you need to include your order information on the back of the photograph so that we know whose picture it is. We will send the photograph back in the cookie package unless otherwise instructed.
Can I Take a Picture from a Magazine and Request a Cookie Be Made with that Photograph?
No, you must have permission to use any photograph that is sent to us for printing on a cookie. Typically, photographs of this type are copyrighted and copyright laws prohibit you from using the photograph.
